What it’s like to be an Accountant
There are four levels of accountant at the utility, with varying roles. However, the main goal is the same – to help maintain and balance the “checkbook” of the whole utility. They compile and maintain customer billings, accounts payable batching order matching, processing payments, meter orders and making sure that all work complies with audit requirements.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field and/or have at least three years’ work experience in the accounting field.
